Since mid-September’s trip to the Liverpool FC stadium, Boys Post 16 football training has been taking place every Thursday after school. Due to the fact that commitment, attitude and general love for the game is second to none the lads have also been entered into the Bradford TEAM19 Community League. In total around twenty players from within the 6th Form have played a part within the squad and fixtures are still being played long into January. The students have also benefitted from eight weeks of football coaching on the back of the Sportivate Initiative. Mark Brier (former Brighouse Town manager and director of Soccer Elite) has been delivering high quality football sessions alongside Mr White. The coaching has helped players understand the game on a higher level which bodes well for their sporting lives after leaving the academy. Hopefully some of these players will go on to join clubs outside of school and most will form the foundation of next year’s squad. Upcoming fixtures are against Dixons City Academy on 22nd January and Thornton on 15th January. So far this academic year the students involved have been a pleasure to work with and are a credit to the academy. Keep up the good work lads.
