On the last day of the half term, a group of Bradford Academy learners were treated to a trip to the Showcase cinema for successfully completing the attendance challenge.
The attendance challenge is aimed at learners who have irregular attendance. In order to complete the challenge, they must attend school for four full weeks. This half term was a massive success with over fifty learners passing.
Dianne Hitch, Lead Attendance Director, commented: “Attendance is massively linked to achievement; if you’re not in school then you’re not learning! Your progress becomes slower in comparison to peers and this leads to disengagement and becoming persistently absent. You also miss out socially as friendships change and move on.”
Learners should be aiming for a minimum of 96 per cent attendance and are provided with an up-to-date figure in Home Team sessions every Monday.
