Goodbye to the Class of 2016
On Thursday 9th June, Bradford Academy said an official farewell to the current Year 11 in their Leavers’ Assembly.
The year group gathered in the Lecture Theatre to sign shirts and take photos, before settling down to watch videos of their time at the academy and a musical goodbye from staff.
Despite on-going GCSE examinations, the date marked their last day as part of the high school provision. Bradford Academy is delighted that many of them will be returning as post-16 learners, but this was the last occasion for them all to come together in the school before some depart on other paths.
One of the learners commented: “I can’t believe we’re leaving high school! It’s really emotional. It seems like school will never end and you’ll be here with your friends forever, but it actually goes so quickly. I’ve been so lucky to come to Bradford Academy. Now I just have to wait for results day!”
Tehmina Hashmi, Principal, wishes the year group all the best for the future: “I’m sure that together we will ensure that you achieve at the highest level and leave the Academy to continue your journey with happy memories, great friends and strength of character to pursue your dreams.”
Other staff said that it had been “a privilege to work with the year group,” Mel Slater, Year 11 Pastoral Worker and “a pleasure to watch them make progress towards their goals,” Jules Millar, Assistant Vice Principal, Learning and Development.
The learners also have their prom to look forward to at the end of the month after all their exams are completed.
Year 11 learners are reminded that their GCSE results will be released on Thursday 25th August.
