Choir Practice in the Dales

Earlier this month, 26 members of the choir went on a weekend away to the Yorkshire Dales to prepare new material.

After a successful performance at Bradford Cathedral on Sponsors Day, the Choir Rehearsal Weekend allowed them to collaborate further and rehearse for Gareth Dawkins’ memorial (30th November) and the Christmas show (14th December).

Rehearsals were led by Laura Kurij, Choir Director, with support from Bill McLocklan, Strategic Leader of Music and Phil Yeadon, Director of Performance. Kayleigh Marsden, teacher of English, also assisted on the weekend catering for everyone.

Bill McLocklan said: “The choir worked really hard over the weekend, rehearsing on Friday night, Saturday day and Sunday morning. As a reward, learners went for their dinner at an Italian restaurant in Harrogate; enjoying the largest garlic breads and pizzas they’d ever encountered.”

The weekend was so successful that the department is looking for similar weekend residential trips for dance and drama, as well as another trip for choir.DiningRehearsalsStaff
