I would like to thank all parents/carers and students for their support, kind words and floral tributes during this tragic time on Bradford Academy’s journey.
I write now to inform you of the arrangements in place to celebrate the life of a truly inspirational man, the founding Principal of Bradford Academy.
Mr Dawkins will be laid to rest during a private family funeral at the family home in Ipswich. On this day, Bradford Academy will fall silent at 1.50pm so that all learners can be involved in personal prayer and reflection led by our Chaplain Rob Taylor.
We would like to invite parents to sign the book of condolence which will be passed on to the family of Mr Dawkins. It will be positioned in the LRC at The Academy during PUR on Tuesday 15th November.
Mr Dawkins was influential both across the district and nationally, and in order to celebrate his life and work there will be a memorial service at Bradford Cathedral on Wednesday 30th November at 3.30pm. The Academy will be closed on this day to all students so that all staff can attend the service and as a mark of respect to a man who made a difference to so many lives.
As there is limited seating at the Cathedral, we are not able to offer all our parents the opportunity to attend this service. However, if you do wish to attend, please inform Michelle Metcalfe via email email@example.com at your earliest opportunity and by no later than Friday 25th November. We will then allocate seating based on a first come first served basis. I hope you will appreciate, that whilst this is not ideal, we are limited in what we can do by the seating arrangements at the Cathedral.
