By Iqra – Year 8
Just before Bradford Academy’s Christmas holiday, £336.25 was raised through the ‘Pound to Park’ initiative for the school charity, Candle Lighters.
The concept of ‘Pound to Park’ was thought of and carried out by the Student Senior Leadership Team (SSLT) and meant that any member of staff who parked in the school carpark had to pay £1.
Bradford Academy strives to be as charitable as possible and last year donated a £1000 cheque to ‘Fighting Ependymoma’, an organisation that helps children fight the terrible form of brain cancer. Sara Wilson, the chairman, recently sent a letter to the academy to say thank you. As well as this, just over £700 was also raised and sent to Martin House, a charity whose aim is to help aid children with life shortening illnesses. Martin House also sent a letter thanking learners for the donation: “We are extremely grateful to all of your pupils for thinking of the children, young people and families that we care for.”
As a school, we are looking forward to more fundraising events throughout this year.
