Gareth Dawkins, the late principal of Bradford Academy, was named winner of the Leadership Award at the Telegraph and Argus Awards this month.
His two sons, Jonathan and Matthew, proudly accepted the award on his behalf alongside Tehmina Hashmi, Principal of Bradford Academy.
Jonathan said: “We’re very proud he made a difference in people’s lives. It is great to be here and that 30 years of service, and what he gave to Bradford, has been acknowledged.”
Nadine Hirst, Director of Personalised Learning for Performing Arts, was also highly commended for Secondary Teacher of the Year.
The newspaper, along with Bradford Council and the University of Bradford, calls on people across the city to nominate inspiring figures in the education sector. They believe it’s important to recognise those who dedicate their lives to improving the chances of Bradford’s young people.
There were 12 different categories which encompassed the full scope of work done in schools.
