Duke of Edinburgh Practice for Year 12

Year 12 learners completed their practice expedition for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award earlier this month with a walk from Bramhope to Askwith Moor.

Not only did they successfully navigate themselves on the trek, they also camped overnight at Bramhope Scout Camp where they put up their own tents and cooked their dinner on a Trangia stove.

Since September, the group have been working on their award during their Entitlement hour. Each week they have prepared for this expedition looking at navigation, cooking, first aid and kit lists. They have also sorted the three sections they have to evidence: physical activity, volunteering and a skill for a set period of time.

They will qualify for their award in July when they complete their full expedition.
