Year 12 Level 2 – 1 x external examination on Human lifespan development, 3 x internally assessed coursework pieces on care values, nutrition and equality and diversity.
Year 12/13 Subsidiary Diploma – BTEC Level 3 – 6 x internally assessed units including communication, equality and diversity, public health and health and safety.
Year 12/13 Diploma –  BTEC Level 3 – 12 x internally assessed units including communication, equality and diversity, public health, health and safety, professional development (100 hours work experience).

Term 1
Key Learning Objectives To know and understand lifespan development. To know and understand equality and diversity. To know and understand nutrition in health and social care. To know and understand the care values that underpin care.
Key Activities / Homework Students will start by looking at 2 units. Unit 1 is externally assessed and a range of activities such as role play, group discussion and case studies will be completed. Homework will include exam style questions and poster challenges. Unit 2 is internally assessed. A range of assessment activities are completed such as power-points, role play and written reports.
Assessments 1 x external assessment – January exam. 3 x internally assessed coursework units at L1, L2 pass, L2 merit and L2 distinction criteria.

Term 2
Key Learning Objectives To know and understand equality and diversity. To know and understand nutrition in health and social care.
Key Activities / Homework Students will go on to look at 2 more internally assessed units where they will look at nutrition in health and social completing activities such as booklets and research on nutritional information and nutrition related illnesses. Students will also look at equality and diversity completing written reports, booklets and roles plays as evidence.
Assessments 2 x internally assessed coursework units at L1, L2 pass, L2 merit and L2 distinction criteria.

Term 3
Key Learning Objectives To know and understand lifespan development.
Key Activities / Homework Revision for the re-sit of the human lifespan development examination. Activities include past exam papers and assessment in class of them, case studies and exam style questions.
