Year 12

Term 1
Key Learning Objectives Learners will be exploring their two units – The Tudors and the Cold War. Also one hour a week learners will be receiving lectures for the Non Examined Assessment on Why the Holocaust took place in Germany.
Key Activities / Homework The course website: http://bagcehistory.webnode.com/ has an assessment tab which contains all the upcoming assessments/homework for the course, week by week.
Assessments The assessments focus on developing key skills needed for the new A level and each unit ends with an unseen mock exam question. Details of which are on the course website.
Suggest reading & support materials There is a whole area on the course website with links to useful websites, books and movies. In addition there is a subject library in the Community Room.

Term 3
Key Learning Objectives This term is dedicated entirely to exam preparation. From April to June we suspend the NEA unit so we can focus on preparation, revision and skill development.
Key Activities / Homework NEA – will be independent research.

Year 13

Term 1
Key Learning Objectives The current Year 13 are completing the old AQA A2 exam. This consists of: British Social History 3 hours a week and the Controlled Assessment on the War of the Roses for two hours a week. In addition those learners re-sitting elements of their AS exams will have a personalised intervention program focused on either Nazi Germany or Tsarist Russia.
Key Activities / Homework NEA homework are tasks based around developing research skills and will be largely reading activities. British Social History will have homeworks based around preparation and completion of assessments.
Assessments Assessments will focus on developing exam skills and assessing knowledge retention. These assessments will feed into bespoke intervention based upon forensic understanding of skills or knowledge deficits.

Term 2
Key Learning Objectives As term 1 except that the NEA will move on to focusing on core skills in writing the final piece. The deadline for the final draft will be after Easter.
Key Activities / Homework NEA – will be independent research.
Assessments NEA submitted. Mock exams for British Social History.

Term 3
Key Learning Objectives Revision is in operation for British History, additional revision is put in place as a replacement to the controlled assessment for those identified as requiring support in both A2 and AS exams. Course ends.
