Sport (GCSE)

Within Sport there are two Options; GCSE Physical Education and BTEC Level 2 Sport.  BTEC Level 2 Sp   Both of our Key Stage Four qualifications lead onto BTEC Level 3 Sport within Post 16

GCSE Theory Term 1
Key Learning Objectives Students will know the benefits and influences of a healthy active lifestyle. They will know the forms of exercise and fitness found in a healthy active lifestyle.
Key Activities / Homework The use of debates and discussion surrounding healthy active lifestyles. Practical sessions to discover components of health related exercise and skill related fitness.
Assessments Termly tests based on past papers.

GCSE Theory Term 2
Key Learning Objectives Develop an understanding of fitness tests, training methods and the link of training to specific physical activities. In additional students will develop an understanding of personal health and wellbeing; balanced diets and intake and expenditure in sport.
Key Activities / Homework Students will practically perform the majority of fitness tests covered. They will plan a balanced diet and look into calorie content in foods and the impact of intake and expenditure on sport.
Assessments Termly tests based on past papers.

GCSE Theory Term 3
Key Learning Objectives Students will be able to develop a Personal Exercise Programme that develops an area for improve within a chosen sport.
Key Activities / Homework Students will test and evaluate their performance in a chosen sport. From this they will highlight areas for improvement and they will develop a method to improve their chosen areas of weakness. This will link in with their knowledge of fitness components.
Assessments Termly tests based on past papers and a controlled assessment.

GCSE Practical Term 1
Key Learning Objectives Students will develop the skills, techniques and tactics found in Hockey and Trampolining.
Key Activities / Homeworks Students will take part in a number of drill based activities to develop skills and techniques. Furthermore they will implement their skills in conditioned games. Students will develop knowledge of rules and tactics through games based activities.
Assessments Students will be assessed again Edexcel Practical criteria on a 1-10 scale.

GCSE Practical Term 2

GCSE Practical Term 3
Key Learning Objectives Students will develop the necessary skills in two OAA activities and two fitness based activities.
Key Activities / Homework Students will attend a weekend residential to take part in OAA activities. In addition, students will complete fitness testing and gain a knowledge of how to plan and create a fitness programme in two areas.
Assessments Students will be assessed again Edexcel Practical criteria on a 1-10 scale.
