Term 1
Key Learning Objectives Know and understand the components of a balanced diet and how our lifestyle impacts our health. Know and understand how animals and plants are adapted to their habitat I know and understand feeding relationships and how to interpret relationship diagrams
Key Activities / Homework’s Throughout the term learners will complete a range of activities which will include exam style questions, posters and scientific reports. In the first half term learners will evaluate the impact of a unbalanced diet on health. Learners will use their knowledge to investigate the distribution of organisms, create food web and draw pyramids of biomass and number.
Assessments Each half term all learners will complete a levelled assessment task which will be directly linked to the key learning objectives for the term. Each half term learners will complete an end of topic assessment

Term 2
Key Learning Objectives Know and understand the fundamentals of particle theory. Know and understand the reactions of acids and alkalis. Know and understand what a metal is and how metals are extracted Know and understand the factors which effect the rates of reaction Know and understand how the properties of metals effects their uses

In the first half term learners will evaluate the impact of a unbalanced diet on health. Learners will use their knowledge to investigate the different factors which effect the rates of reaction and the difference in the reactivity of different metals.
