Computing

At Bradford Academy we know that technology is constantly developing. At Bradford Academy we teach our pupils to be comfortable with technology, developing their skills and understanding of a range of technologies. It is important that our children leave school with a good grounding of computational thinking and problem solving so that they are prepared for opportunities of the future. The lessons pupils undertake cover, digital literacy, media, programming and data handling, all alongside online safety teaching. These subjects allow pupils to experience a range of programs and build their skills through repetition and deepening of prior learning.

Resources

One of the more difficult areas of the Computing Curriculum is the coding element. Children are encouraged to practise coding outside of school. The following websites are free (or have free elements) for children to use to hone their skills:

Kodable: https://www.kodable.com/
Code: https://code.org/
Scratch: https://scratch.mit.edu/

Barefoot Computing also have many ‘unplugged’ activities to do at home: Unplugged Home Activities
