I graduated with a BSC in Computing and have been teaching for 15 years. Before I arrived at Bradford Academy I worked in two contrasting schools in Leeds for 8 years followed by 3 years at an independent boarding and day school in York. I arrived at Bradford Academy having had the opportunity to lead and transform two departments and also lead ICT across the whole school. I joined Bradford Academy in 2015 as the head of ICT & Computing. In 2016 I was made responsible for Technology and Food as well as ICT and Computing. In 2018 this department grew further to include Art. In 2019 I progressed to my current role as the Assistant Principal for Key Stage 4 alongside my head of department role.
In my role as the Assistant Principal I am responsible for the progress and achievement for key stage 4. I strategically lead a team of staff made up of the heads of year, pastoral support workers and form tutors to ensure our learners are able to navigate and complete one of the most critical parts of their lives successfully, safely and having created fond memories. In my capacity as the head of Computing & Technology I strategically lead a team of middle leaders and teachers to deliver one of the most creative aspects of our curriculum. I have the privilege of being able to shape and influence the lives of our young people beyond my own curriculum.
My ambition for our students is that each and every one of them does the best that they can with the skills that they have; and that they leave us with real opportunities in life and most importantly that they leave us to become leaders of positive change within their own homes and communities.
