Message for Year 11 learners & their parents/carers

Dear Students, Parent/Carers

We appreciate that since lock down life has been very challenging and thank you for all your efforts adapting to the new ways in which we are working and communicating with you. As we approach May Half Term, we would like to update you on some key items for Year 11.

GCSE Exam Grades

Teachers are currently in the process of submitting GCSE exam grades following the guidance provided by Ofqual and exam boards. Mrs Sutcliffe has already outlined this process in more detail with you in an earlier communication which can be found on our school website. The final grades awarded to learners will be decided by the exam boards and moderated by Ofqual.

We kindly ask that staff are not contacted regarding this matter. If you do have a query please email:

Once we have submitted the grades and have more information about results day in August we will write to you again.

End of Year Celebrations (Leavers Assembly & Prom)

Under the current circumstances we regret to inform you that we will not be able to celebrate this cohorts achievements in the traditional BA way and have had to cancel the leaver’s assembly and prom.

Any payments made for the prom will be fully refunded and our finance team will be in touch before the end of this academic year to explain how we intend to manage this process in a safe, secure and efficient manner.

We would love to have some form of celebration event in the autumn term to give our learners an opportunity to mark this milestone in their academic journey but at this point in time this is not something that we can commit to. We will write to you again if and when this position changes.

KS4-KS5 Transition

As per the advice given by Ofqual Year 11 learners are no longer required to complete work for their GCSE subjects.

From the 1st of June we will be uploading a range of resources to our Virtual School to help learners prepare for life beyond Year 11 so please encourage your child to access these resources.

Kind Regards

Mr Mir
