After School Clubs

Intent

We understand that children need a wide range of experiences beyond the classroom in order to achieve their full potential. We have a commitment to developing the whole child and providing learners with new experiences and developing a higher level of expertise in particular skills. Our clubs are inclusive and we aim for children from a range of backgrounds to attend as many clubs as possible.

Implementation

A variety of activities are offered for 1 – 1½ hours after school rotating each term covering areas in

Parents are informed of the club offers for their child’s year group for the following half-term. These places are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. There is no charge for clubs.

Impact

Children experience new activities and this means that they are achieve success away from the classroom. Children develop transferable skills, such as, teamwork, resilience and perseverance. Children experience competition in a non-threatening environment preparing them for external competitions and challenge.

Staff are well trained and regularly monitor children’s progress to ensure that they are engaged in activities that develop their skills and help them grow in confidence. Staff provide many and varied opportunities for children to develop their speech through careful questioning and a range of interesting activities. Children are safe and happy and play well together.
