Sources of further information & support
At Bradford Academy, the safety and wellbeing of our children and young people is at the heart of everything we do. We know that being a parent or carer can sometimes bring worries or difficult situations, and you do not have to manage these alone.
If you are worried about your child, another child or something that has happened, please talk to us. You do not need to have all the answers or be certain that something is wrong before getting in touch. Sometimes, simply having a conversation is the best place to start. Our Safeguarding Team is here to listen, offer advice and help families access the right support when it is needed.
If You Need Urgent Help
If you believe a child or young person is in immediate danger, please call 999.
If your child or young person needs urgent support with their mental health or emotional wellbeing, you can contact NHS 111 and select the mental health option.
Talk to Our Safeguarding Team
If something is worrying you, however big or small it may seem, please get in touch with the Bradford Academy Safeguarding Team. You can email us at safeguarding@bradfordacademy.co.uk, or contact the Academy and ask to speak to a member of the Safeguarding Team.
We understand that talking about a concern can sometimes feel difficult. You will be listened to and your concern will be taken seriously. Our priority is always to work with children, young people and their families to keep them safe and get the right support in place.
Keeping Children Safe Online
The online world is a big part of children and young people’s lives. While it offers many positive opportunities, we know it can also be an area of concern for parents and carers.
If you are worried that a child or young person may be experiencing online sexual abuse, exploitation or grooming, you can make a report through the CEOP Safety Centre. CEOP is not the reporting route for general online bullying, fake accounts or account hacking.
The NSPCC also provides practical online safety information to help families talk about staying safe online.

Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing
Children and young people can experience worries, low mood, anxiety or other difficulties with their emotional wellbeing at different times in their lives. If your child is struggling, please remember that you and your child do not have to face this alone.
YoungMinds provides advice and information for young people as well as support for parents and carers. Parents and carers can contact the YoungMinds Parents Helpline on 0808 802 5544. Kooth also provides online wellbeing and mental health support for young people.

You can also talk to us at school if you are worried about your child’s emotional wellbeing. We can listen, offer support and help you explore what further help may be available.
Childline
Sometimes children and young people find it easier to talk to someone outside their family or school. Childline provides a safe and confidential place for them to talk about anything that may be worrying them, including friendships, bullying, relationships, abuse, mental health, or difficulties at home or school.
Children and young people can call 0800 1111 free of charge, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or access support online.

Bullying
We want every child and young person at Bradford Academy to feel safe, happy and included.
If you are worried that your child is experiencing bullying, please talk to us. Telling us early gives us the opportunity to understand what is happening, listen to your child and work with you to provide appropriate support.
The Anti-Bullying Alliance also provides helpful information and advice for children, young people, parents and carers.

Young Carers
Some children and young people have extra responsibilities at home because they help to care for someone close to them. This may be because a family member has an illness, disability, mental health condition, or problems with drugs or alcohol. These children and young people are often known as young carers.
We recognise the important role young carers can have within their families, but we also want to make sure they are supported and have someone to talk to.
Carers’ Resource provides specialist support for young carers across Bradford. Families can contact the service on 01274 449660 or email byc@carersresource.org for information and support.
Young Carers Support and Referrals
You can also talk to a member of our Safeguarding Team if you think your child may be a young carer or would benefit from some additional support.
Worried About Radicalisation?
Parents and carers can sometimes notice changes in a child’s behaviour or become worried about things they are seeing or hearing online. If something does not feel right, please talk to us.
Prevent is a safeguarding programme designed to support people who may be susceptible to radicalisation. You can speak confidentially with a member of the Bradford Academy Safeguarding Team or contact the ACT Early Support Line on 0800 011 3764 for advice.

Please Talk to Us
No concern is too small to share.
We would much rather a parent, carer or child speak to us about something that is worrying them than feel they have to deal with it alone.
Whether your child is in Primary or Secondary, our Safeguarding Team is here to listen, support and work alongside your family. Starting a conversation early can make a real difference and help us make sure the right support is in place.
