Vision

“Responsibility, Respect, Resilience

A shining light in our community”

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:14

The centre of our vision is the above bible verse from the gospel of Matthew. We selected this bible verse to fit with the idea with of being a shining light in the community.

The verse is taken from a part of Matthew called The Sermon on the Mount. It’s a part where Jesus talks to thousands of people about how we should live our lives, how to care for others and how to be good people in the world.

When Jesus is speaking, he delivers the Beatitudes at the start of Matthew 5. This speech is one that demonstrates ways in which we can try to live our lives in a way that honours God and the people we encounter in life. We see clear links between the beatitudes and our vision in the following ways:

Respect – Verse 7 – being merciful is showing kindness, compassion, and respect to others

Responsibility – Verse 6 & 9 – be the change you want to see in the world

Resilience – Verse 10-12 – Life will be tough, but we should not give up.

These are all things that are important at Bradford Academy. We want everyone – staff, learners, families, and visitors to be the best they can be, a Shining Light in our community! They can do this by demonstrating responsibility, respect, and resilience throughout their lives. By doing this they set a good example to those around them and to be caring to others at all times. At Bradford Academy we understand that not everyone is a Christian and welcome people of all faiths and none, but we also think that this approach to life that Jesus modelled will have a positive impact on individuals’ lives and the wider community.

Since we opened our doors in 2007, we have been on a mission to transform
the life chances of our learners. We are deeply rooted in our community and are
privileged to have the opportunity to serve it by providing high quality
education from the age of two to nineteen.
We believe that our learners can achieve anything through hard work,
commitment and passion and we believe it is our job to help them to realise
their ambitions.
