Uniform / P.E. Kit

In order to maintain our high standards the Academy uniform as listed below must be worn at all times, including on journeys to and from the academy.

All through expectations:

It is expected that all learners at the academy will adhere to our uniform expectations. A breakdown of uniform for each phase is available below. Where children do not arrive to school in correct uniform, they will receive a lunchtime detention, or may be sent home (suspended). This is in line with our positive behaviour policies.

General appearance:

Hairstyles should be smart. Long hair should be tied up. Hair should be a natural colour. Extreme hairstyles such as shaved designs are not permitted. Bows and adornments should not be worn. One plain headband only is permitted.

Learners may choose to wear one small pair of stud earrings. Learners should not have any other visible jewellery.

All piercings must be removed for PE and Performing Arts Dance lessons. This is to protect the learner and others in the lesson from harm. Any learner at the academy with piercings would be expected to remove these for themselves.

Outdoor coats are not permitted inside of the building. Denim or leather coats are not permitted as outdoor coats.

Make up is not permitted in primary. In secondary this should be natural in appearance. No fake or painted nails. For health and safety reasons nails should not exceed finger length.

The only logo permitted on uniform is the Bradford Academy logo. Please do not send your child to school in branded clothing.

We politely remind parents and carers that Bradford Academy is a professional place of work and learning and we ask that all uniform reflects this.

Primary Uniform (Nursery – Year 6)

Green cardigan /sweatshirt with Academy logo.
Plain White Polo shirt
Plain black knee length skirt

Black school trousers or school shorts

Shalwar Kameez may be worn over the Academy uniform. The fabric must be plain black and approved by Academy staff.
Hijab may be worn – plain black.
Plain black shoes, ankle boots or plain black trainers. No high heels. All footwear must be completely black with no visible/ coloured logos or adornments.
A book bag or small bag suitable for transporting reading books and water bottle.

Primary PE uniform

Indoor PE Kit: Blue t-shirt, navy blue shorts, (pumps optional).
Outdoor PE Kit: Plain navy blue or blue tracksuit, trainers, (rain jacket optional).
Trainers should be designed for sport – children will be completing physical exercise and need appropriate footwear that can be worn outdoors in all weathers.

Bradford Academy Secondary Uniform:

At Bradford Academy, our uniform policy promotes high standards, readiness for learning, and a sense of equality and pride across our community.

What you need to know:

Uniform: All students must wear a Bradford Academy blazer and tie, a plain white collared shirt, plain black (regular fit) trousers or an A-line or straight skirt (with black tights), and plain black school shoes. An optional plain black V-neck jumper may be worn under the blazer.
Uniform Graphic: Please refer to the graphic below for a clear visual guide on how the uniform should be worn correctly.
Appearance: Hair should be a natural colour and smart in appearance. Only one plain, dark headband is allowed. Jewellery is limited to a single pair of small stud earrings. No other jewellery, facial piercings, false nails, or false eyelashes are permitted. Any religious jewellery such as the Kara should be worn discretely under shirt or blazer and safely removed or appropriately covered during PE or practical lessons.
Outdoor Wear: Coats must be worn over the blazer (not under or instead of it) and removed inside the building. Hoodies, denim, fur and branded jackets are not allowed. Coats should be seasonably appropriate and in keeping with uniform, not fashion accessories or status symbols.
PE Kit: Students must wear Bradford Academy branded PE tops and navy/black bottoms for PE.
Bags: Students should bring a plain, neutral-coloured bag large enough for A4 folders.
Cultural/Religious Dress: Cultural and religious items are welcomed if they are plain black and worn with the standard uniform.
Seasonal Dress: In the final half term, due to hotter temperatures, students may choose to wear plain black, dress shorts or their skirt without tights.

If a student’s uniform does not meet expectations, they may be asked to correct it or borrow items. Parents are expected to support the policy and contact the school with any questions or if adaptations are needed.
