Mental Health

At Bradford Academy we are committed to supporting positive mental health throughout our school community. We are working towards reducing stigma and encouraging acceptance in all our learners. We aim to ensure that all learners move onto their next stage of learning ready to accept the next challenge that faces them, with a range of support strategies to help them on their way.

We have committed to the Mental Health Matters Project which is currently running in Bradford.  As part of this we have a dedicated Mental Health Champion who receives regular training and works alongside other staff and learners to develop their skills. Our Mental Health Champion has been providing learners with information regarding a range of issues related to mental health and wellbeing, including anxiety, managing stress, and recognising emotions. We are proud to have achieved the Bronze Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health In Schools Award which recognises our ongoing approach to supporting positive mental wellbeing across our school and wider community.

The impact of our mission to promote positive mental health is evident throughout Bradford Academy. Many learners and staff now feel more willing to discuss mental health and any concerns they may have. Learners are also more willing to support each other to build positive mental health.
